How Much Does It Cost to Paint a Room in Hunterdon County, NJ?

Hiring a contractor to paint a 150sqft bedroom (ceiling and walls) can range from $650-$850. Molding, Baseboard, closets and doors will likely increase that range another $200-500.

Hiring a contractor to paint the interior of your home is by far one of the simplest ways to completely transform your living space. Not only is it relatively straightforward in terms of the scope of work, a full interior makeover can also happen pretty quickly. We’re talking changing the entire energy of your home within a few days.

I like to refer to the walls of customers’ homes as their very own (and rather large) canvas. The possibilities are endless with respect to colors, shades, sheens, accent walls, etc. It can sometimes be a longer process to zero in on final wall colors in comparison to the actual painting project being completed. I say that half-jokingly although color decisions do have a huge impact on the final product.

Some considerations to keep in mind that can impact the price of painting a room include total square footage of wall and ceiling space, trim detail, crown molding, closets, number of windows and doors, carpet or hardwood/vinyl flooring and whether or not furniture will need to be rearranged (this would be considered part of prep work).

Some customers prefer to have their entire home painted at once. This is the “get it all done now” method. Typically, contractors will offer better prices in this scenario since labor crews and materials will be on site for a longer period of time (AKA more guaranteed work). Sometimes, contractors will reduce the “per room” or “per square foot” pricing of the total job. Something to keep in mind.

On the other hand, it’s not uncommon for customers to take the “one room at a time” approach. Perhaps a bedroom is outdated or tastes in color change over time, and only one room needs to be painted. You may not get the most value out of this situation since most bedrooms (~10’x15’) can be painted in one day. In this case, contractors will take into account the time for set up, prep work, painting a room and clean up all in one day as opposed to a prolonged project timeline. That’s not a hard and fast rule, but something to consider. It may make more sense to either budget for more painting to be done or wait for multiple rooms to need a fresh coat of paint in order to get the best possible value.
