Bathroom remodels in Hunterdon County, New Jersey can take as few as 2-3 days to complete with 3-5 weeks being the average duration.

Bathroom remodels are a great way to customize your space and increase the value of your home. We covered the average costs involved in partial and full bathroom remodels in a previous blog post. Today, we’re touching on project timelines and how long you can expect for it to take for your dream bathroom to become a reality.

Let’s face it, your bathroom is one of the most important rooms (if not THE most important room) in your home. It’s typically where you start your day and end your day with multiple pitstops in between. When you choose to hire a remodeling contractor to turn your vision for an updated bathroom into a reality, the last thing anyone wants to hear is that their coveted “get ready to take on the day” space will be out of commission for a lengthy period of time.

We’ll quickly cover a few key elements of two types of typical bathroom remodels and relate them to the anticipated timeline for the project from start to finish.

1.     Partial Bathroom Remodel (mostly includes but is not limited to fresh paint, new vanity, vanity light fixture, sink, mirror and toilet): This is where you may see a quick turnaround on project duration. Painting the walls and ceiling of a standard 5x8 bathroom typically takes about 1 day. The vanity, light fixture, sink, mirror and toilet replacements may take on average about 1-2 days. In total, you’re looking at about 2-3 days start to finish. Don’t be fooled by the quick turnaround. A scope like this can add a ton of character and personalized touches to your bathroom. Not to mention, you’ll likely be able to continue using the bathroom throughout the project.

2.     Full Bathroom Remodel (larger scope that usually includes but is not limited to demolition, new drywall, taping/mudding, priming, painting, new vanity, light fixture, sink, mirror, toilet, new tub and/or tiled shower and new flooring): Some larger companies may promise a timeline for a scope like this in less than 3 weeks. It’s possible with a specific system and order of operations in place, but for smaller bathroom remodeling companies that have a more intimate business model, you’re looking at more like 3-5 weeks. A larger scope involves more labor, procuring more specialized materials and fixtures and sometimes even township permits. If you’re looking to invest in the bathroom of your dreams and either have a second bathroom available for use or can get by with limited use of your only bathroom, 3-5 weeks is a small price to pay to see your vision come to fruition.

Whether you’re interested in hiring a bathroom remodeling contractor for a partial bathroom remodel or full bathroom remodel, be prepared for the project to take at the very least 2-3 days and on average 3-5 weeks. Duration will vary depending on the scope of work, but in the end most remodels are worth the wait!
